This factory service and repair manual was written for the 2013 Toyota RAV4 specifically, keyed to the model year, to the 2.5L four-cylinder (2AR-FE) in the engine bay and to the trim you are working on, so the clearances, torque values and service sequences it gives are the ones Toyota specified for this vehicle instead of numbers that only happen to be close because they came from a different year of the same nameplate.

Known issues on the 2013 RAV4. Two recalls are on federal record for this model year. One covers the trailer hitches: Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) recalled certain 2013-2015 RAV4s manufactured June 1, 2013, to December 29, 2014, and equipped with an accessory trailer light, where the system can incorrectly detect an electrical short and turn off the trailer lights. The other covers the 12-volt battery in the electrical system: on certain 2013-2018 RAV4s, replacement 12-volt batteries may not fit properly in the battery tray, and a battery short circuit increases the risk of a fire. Owners have submitted 329 complaints against this model year, and 179 technical service bulletins have been issued for it.
A trailer-lighting fault, a battery that will not sit correctly in its tray, or a scheduled service on the four-cylinder all get worked to Toyota's own procedure and its own figures for the 2013 RAV4.
