2012 Toyota RAV4 Service and Repair Manual

Fitment matters more than usual on the 2012 RAV4, because the same badge covered a 2.5L four (2AR-FE), a 3.5L V6 (2GRFE) and a battery-electric RAV4 EV, and the service values diverge across all three. This factory service and repair manual is matched to the exact year, engine and trim you drive, so the figures you work to are the ones Toyota published for that build rather than numbers borrowed from an adjacent model year or the other engine.

Known issues on the 2012 RAV4. Four recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers rear seat belts and reaches both the gas RAV4 and the RAV4 EV: a cut seat belt may not properly restrain the seat occupant, increasing their risk of injury. The second, filed by Southeast Toyota Distributors, covers the frontal air bag sensor and control module, where the front passenger seat occupant sensing system can be out of calibration. The third covers the hydraulic service brakes on 2012 RAV4 vehicles, where the antilock and traction control systems could become inoperative, reducing the directional control assistance. The fourth, also from Southeast Toyota, covers an inaccurate vehicle label: an inaccurate label could lead to owners overloading their vehicles and tires. Owners have filed 356 complaints for the year, and 152 technical service bulletins have been issued.

Whether you are chasing an antilock brake fault, checking the front passenger occupant sensing system or working a scheduled service on the four-cylinder or the V6, it holds you to Toyota's own procedure and figures for this 2012 RAV4.
