2005 Toyota RAV4 Service and Repair Manual

This service and repair manual is matched to the 2005 Toyota RAV4 as Toyota built it that year, down to the 2.4L four-cylinder (2AZ-FE) under the hood and the trim the vehicle left the assembly line as, so the specifications you work to are Toyota's own for this vehicle rather than close figures carried over from a neighboring model year.

Known issues on the 2005 RAV4. Four recalls stand on the federal record for this model year, and two of them are air bag inflator modules. The first covers the passenger-side frontal inflator module: an inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants. The second covers the driver-side frontal inflator module on RAV4s built May 13, 2003 through October 25, 2005, and applies in the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's frontal air bag. The other two were issued by Southeast Toyota and Gulf States Toyota over labels that fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 110, Tire Selection and Rims: on the Southeast Toyota vehicles a driver may overload a vehicle, which may increase the risk of a crash, and on the Gulf States Toyota vehicles the label does not meet the standard requirements. Owners have logged 168 complaints against the 2005 RAV4, and 81 technical service bulletins have been issued for it.

Whether the job is an air bag inflator inspection, a tire and rim specification check against Toyota's own figure, or a routine service interval on the 2.4L four-cylinder, the procedures and values here are the factory ones for this 2005 RAV4.
