Known issues on the 2012 Rogue. Two recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers the electrical system: snow, water, and road salt can seep through the driver-side floor carpet into a harness connector, causing an electrical short that can lead to a vehicle fire. The second covers the tire pressure monitoring system, which left the assembly line without being activated on certain build-date vehicles, so the system cannot warn the driver of an underinflated tire, raising the risk of tire overload, overheating, and a blowout. Consequence
A NON-ACTIVE TPMS CANNOT WARN A DRIVER THAT A TIRE IS UNDERINFLATED. UNDERINFLATED TIRES CAN RESULT IN TIRE OVERLOADING AND OVERHEATING, WHICH COULD LEAD TO A BLOWOUT AND POSSIBLE CRASH.
Remedy
ALL OF THE AFFECTED VEHICLES ARE STILL IN DEALER INVENTORY. DEALERS HAVE BEEN INSTRUCTED TO ACTIVATE ALL OF THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEMS.
