Known issues on the 2009 Rogue. Three recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers the electrical system, where a mixture of snow, water and salt can seep into the harness connector on the driver side floor and cause an electrical short that leads to a vehicle fire. The second covers the steering gear box, where a cover screw can loosen and eventually fall out, allowing the pinion shaft to come out of the steering gear and resulting in a complete loss of steering control. The third covers a Garmin nuvi navigation unit, whose battery can overheat and result in a fire. Owners have filed 320 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are logged. The factory diagnostic and repair procedures behind each of those systems are here.
From a harness inspection to a steering gear cover check on the 2.5L QR25DE engine, it keeps you on the OEM procedure and the correct specification for your specific 2009 Rogue.
