Known issues on the 2008 Rogue. Five recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers an electrical short in the driver-side harness connector, where snow, water, and road salt seeping through the carpet can cause a vehicle fire. The second covers the tire pressure monitoring sensor-transmitter nut, which can corrode and crack in areas with heavy road salt, allowing it to come loose from the sensor. The third covers a screw in the steering gear housing cover that can loosen and fall out over time, compromising steering response. The fourth covers the optional Garmin nuvi 750 navigation unit, whose batteries can overheat and result in a fire. The fifth covers the passenger occupant classification system, where an out-of-spec varistor can interrupt the signal to the air bag control unit and suppress the passenger air bag in a crash.
