This factory service and repair manual for the 2011 GMC Yukon XL 1500 works across two flex-fuel V8s, the 325-cubic-inch 5.3L and the 376-cubic-inch 6.2L, both overhead-valve and naturally aspirated, in a single 4-door sport utility body. Denali, SLE and SLT make up the trim range. Because the engines share a fuel strategy, much of the fuel and emissions material is common to both, and the differences surface in the displacement-specific engine mechanical figures, torque values and the diagnostics for each powertrain's control module.

Known issues on the 2011 Yukon XL 1500. Both recalls on the federal record for this year are fastener problems. In the first, intermediate steering shaft attaching bolts were not tightened to specification, so the joints could separate and steering could be lost. In the second, rear axle cross pins were not properly heat treated and could fracture, shift out of position inside the axle and cost the driver directional control without warning. Owners recorded 393 complaints, 157 of them about airbags, 49 about the structure and 14 about electrical faults. Steering shaft and rear axle torque values sit in this manual for exactly that reason.
