2004 GMC Yukon XL 1500 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 2004 GMC Yukon XL 1500 is written around two naturally aspirated, overhead-valve V8s, a 325-cubic-inch 5.3L that in some builds runs flex-fuel as well as gasoline and a 364-cubic-inch 6.0L on gasoline, installed in one 4-door sport utility body. Denali, SLE and SLT are the three trims. Everything downstream of that engine choice, from injector diagnostics to driveline torque values, is spelled out system by system, with the chassis and body wiring diagrams gathered in sections of their own.

Known issues on the 2004 Yukon XL 1500. Four recalls stand on the federal record. Two of them are brake booster problems: a hydraulic booster pressure accumulator that could crack and separate under normal operation, bleeding fluid out of the booster circuit, and an out-of-specification relief valve bore that let the seal fracture and stiffened the pedal. A third covers a fuel rail pulse damper whose retainer clip could fracture and let the damper loosen, raising a fire risk from leaking fuel. Complaints number 445, with 165 on the electrical system, 77 on the service brakes and 26 on steering, so the booster, hydraulic and wiring chapters see the most traffic.
