This factory service and repair manual for the 2006 GMC Yukon XL 1500 has four trims to keep straight, Denali, SL, SLE and SLT, all on one 4-door sport utility body. Two naturally aspirated overhead-valve V8s do the work: the 325-cubic-inch 5.3L, built in a form that accepts flex-fuel as well as gasoline, and the 364-cubic-inch 6.0L on gasoline. Trim equipment shows up mainly in the electrical and interior chapters, while the engine, transmission and chassis sections carry the procedures, specifications and torque values.

Known issues on the 2006 Yukon XL 1500. Three recalls appear on the federal record. One concerns a fuel rail pulse damper whose retainer clip could fracture, loosening the damper and allowing fuel to leak near hot engine parts. A second involves replacement wheel hub assemblies with an inboard retention nut that could loosen, producing noise and an antilock warning before the wheel itself is at risk of separating. The third is a tire and loading label printed with the wrong vehicle capacity weight, which could lead to overloading or incorrect inflation. Owner complaints total 83 and cluster on the service brakes, the stability control system and the power train.
