Known issues on the 2002 Yukon XL 1500. Two recalls are on the federal record. The first involves replacement wheel hub assemblies whose inboard retention nut could work loose, showing up first as noise and an antilock warning and, at worst, letting a wheel separate from the truck. The second covers antilock brake systems that could activate when they should not, lengthening low-speed stops in regions where road salt attacks the wiring. Of the 342 owner complaints recorded, 147 name the service brakes, 23 engine and engine cooling, and 20 the electrical system, so the brake, antilock and wheel-bearing procedures here get the heaviest use.
