2003 GMC Yukon XL 1500 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 2003 GMC Yukon XL 1500 documents a 4-door sport utility offered in Denali, SLE and SLT trim with a choice of two overhead-valve V8s. The 5.3L, 325 cubic inches, came in a version that accepts flex-fuel as well as gasoline; the 6.0L, 364 cubic inches, is gasoline only. Neither is force-fed. Because the two share a layout but not their displacement or calibration, the specifications, torque values and diagnostic tables are kept apart wherever the engines actually differ.

Known issues on the 2003 Yukon XL 1500. Four recalls are on the federal record for this year. One concerns a mid-frame cross member that could tear in an angled frontal impact and leave an edge sharp enough to puncture the fuel tank. Another covers an out-of-specification bore in the brake hydro-boost housing that could fracture the valve seal and raise pedal effort. A third involves rear door upper hinge welds that fell short of specification and weakened the door in a side impact. Owners logged 517 complaints, led by 145 on the electrical system, 124 on the service brakes and 32 on steering, the same systems the wiring diagrams and brake procedures cover in detail.
