2009 Ford Mustang Service and Repair Manual

Known issues on the 2009 Mustang. All six recalls on federal record involve frontal air bag inflators. Whether original equipment or replacement service parts fitted after a collision, the driver and passenger inflators may rupture when the bag deploys and send sharp metal fragments into the cabin, and the driver's dual-stage inflator is specifically vulnerable to moisture intrusion over time. Owners have lodged 181 complaints with NHTSA, of which 133 concern air bags, 12 vehicle speed control and seven the electrical system.
