Known issues on the 2008 Mustang. Air bags dominate the eight recalls on federal record. Six concern frontal inflators, factory and replacement, that can rupture on deployment and scatter metal fragments, with the driver's dual-stage unit open to moisture intrusion, plus the passenger bag's failure of a neck-injury requirement for a small unbelted occupant seated fully forward. Two aftermarket lamp recalls complete the list. NHTSA has logged 347 complaints from owners, and 238 of them are about air bags, against 29 for the power train and 17 for vehicle speed control.
