2006 Toyota Avalon Service and Repair Manual

Built for the 2006 Avalon specifically, this Toyota factory service and repair manual is keyed to the model year and to the 3.5L V6 (2GR-FE) under the hood, so the clearances, torque values and service sequences you work to are the ones Toyota published for this car and not figures carried across from an adjacent year of the same nameplate.

Known issues on the 2006 Avalon. Five recalls are on federal record for this model year. One covers the hydraulic brake master cylinder, where a leak of brake fluid could lead to a change in brake pedal feel. Two separate recalls concern the accelerator pedal: under the first, the pedal may become hard to depress or slow to return to idle; under the second, a stuck open accelerator pedal may result in very high vehicle speeds and make it difficult to stop. A fourth, from Southeast Toyota, covers a tire selection and rims label that failed to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 110, leaving a driver able to overload the vehicle and increase the risk of a crash. The fifth covers the front seat heater, whose copper strand heating element may short circuit if damaged, increasing the risk of a fire. Owners have filed 449 complaints for the year and Toyota has issued 109 technical service bulletins. The factory diagnostic and repair procedures behind each of those systems are here.

Whether the job is bleeding the brake hydraulics, tracing a pedal that will not return cleanly to idle or lifting a front seat to reach a heater element, the manual holds the work to Toyota's own procedure and to the specification set for this 2006 Avalon.
