Known issues on the 2005 Crown Victoria. Six recalls are on federal record for the 2005 Crown Victoria, and steering leads them. An upper intermediate steering shaft that was serviced incorrectly can separate, a lower steering column bearing can come apart on cars sold or registered in certain states, either of which can cost steering control. A battery cable fusible link can chafe on a cross member bolt and overheat. Owners have filed 193 complaints with NHTSA: exterior lighting at 85, steering at 36 and the electrical system at 18.
