2001 Ford Crown Victoria Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 2001 Ford Crown Victoria covers the four-door sedan in Base, LX, Police Interceptor and S trims, four in all, with the naturally aspirated 4.6L single overhead cam V8 as the sole engine, fueled by gasoline or CNG. Procedures, specifications, torque values, wiring diagrams and diagnostics are provided for the V8, for both fuel systems and for the sedan's brakes, steering, suspension, restraint system and electrical circuits. Restraint system diagnostics matter on this car, because the air bag control module and its crash sensors are checked by procedure and wiring diagram rather than by feel.

Known issues on the 2001 Crown Victoria. This model year carries seven recalls on the federal record. Two involve the restraint control module: one version may not recognize certain faults and could fire an air bag or belt pretensioner during the start-up self-test, and another may have been assembled with circuit board screws missing; a third recall covers front seat belt buckles that may not fully latch. Owners have filed 93 complaints with NHTSA, led by the engine and cooling system with 14, the electrical system with 10 and steering with nine. Restraint system diagnostics, wiring diagrams and engine procedures in this manual cover those systems.
