Known issues on the 2004 Crown Victoria. Three recalls are on federal record for the 2004 Crown Victoria. The lighting control module may fail and shut off the headlights, aftermarket fuel filters may leak fuel at a quick connector that does not fully seat, and on police and taxi cars a sound insulating panel under the body can sag onto the catalytic converter at high temperatures and char or burn. Owners have filed 137 complaints with NHTSA, and exterior lighting accounts for 60 of them, with the electrical system at 22 and steering at 19.
