This factory service and repair manual for the 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier has a trap in its engine chapter worth knowing about up front: two of the three engines share a displacement. Known issues on the 2002 Cavalier. Five recalls sit on the federal record, and every one of them was written against a replacement part rather than the car as built. Four cover headlamp and corner lamp assemblies supplied without the amber side reflectors that make a car visible from the side at night. The fifth covers a fuel pressure regulator produced without its sealing ring and retainer, which can let gasoline out and, near an ignition source, burn. Owners logged 210 complaints, led by 29 electrical, 27 on the service brakes and 20 on engine cooling; lighting circuits, fuel pressure testing and brake hydraulics are all documented here.
