Known issues on the 2000 Accord. Twenty-one recalls are on federal record for this model year. Three cover the front air bag system: two involve driver-side inflators that can absorb moisture and rupture, sending metal fragments toward occupants or leaving the cushion underinflated, and a third covers a frontal air bag module with an improperly welded inflator component that may not deploy correctly in a crash. Thirteen separate recalls cover aftermarket replacement headlamp and combination lamp assemblies sold for this Accord that omit the required amber side reflectors, reducing lighting visibility to other drivers. The ignition switch interlock can let the key be turned off and removed without the transmission shifting to Park, allowing the vehicle to roll away if the parking brake isn't set. The rear suspension lower/control arms can break due to improper welding, reducing handling and control. An instrument panel dimmer control can fail from heat buildup, blacking out the gauge cluster at night. Two recalls cover rear seat belt buckles that are difficult to unfasten after a crash. Owners have filed 1,215 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are logged for the 2000 Accord in federal records. The factory diagnostic and repair procedures behind each of those systems are here.
From an air bag inflator inspection to a suspension arm check or a dimmer switch replacement, it keeps you on the OEM procedure and the correct specification for your specific 2000 Accord.
