Known issues on the 2000 Sebring. For the 2000 Sebring, NHTSA has filed a single recall. It covers certain cars whose front lower lateral arm ball joints may have had their rubber boots damaged in assembly, allowing dirt, water and moisture to reach and corrode the ball stud until the joint could separate. Dealers inspect the joints and either replace worn ones with a revised design or treat them with sealant. Owners filed 172 complaints, led by seat belts at 32 and hydraulic service brakes at 24, with structure at 20. Of those, 17 reported a crash, 5 a fire and 13 an injury.
