1996 Chrysler Sebring Service and Repair Manual

Known issues on the 1996 Sebring. NHTSA lists 8 recalls for the 1996 Sebring. On certain cars with the 2.5L V6, the throttle cable could fray and make the throttle bind or stick; dealers replace the cable assembly. On certain cars, protective boots at the front lower lateral arm ball joints could, if torn, admit dirt and water, and the joint could separate. The floor shifter interlock on certain cars could fail and allow the car to roll away with the key out. There are 419 complaints, led by suspension at 85, power train at 56 and hydraulic brakes at 55; 51 reported a crash, 14 a fire, 33 an injury and 1 a death.
