1997 Chrysler Sebring Service and Repair Manual

Known issues on the 1997 Sebring. NHTSA’s records tie six recall campaigns to the 1997 Sebring. A poor weld joining the headrest guide bracket to the passenger seat back frame on certain cars could let the bracket break; the recall covered 1083 vehicles, and dealers fit a new seat back. Certain cars with the 2.5L V6 may have a throttle cable that frays and sticks. On certain cars with an automatic, a misadjusted shifter cable could snap a pin and leave the ignition-park interlock inoperative. Seat belts top the 287 complaints with 38, the electrical system has 37 and suspension 36; 45 reported a crash, 6 a fire, 24 an injury and 1 a death.
