Known issues on the 1999 A6. Nine recalls are on federal record for this model year. The driver-side air bag inflator module can absorb moisture and deploy improperly in a crash. The headlight switch connector can short-circuit, which could lead to overheating or fire, and a separate electrical recall covers a knee-bolster contact with the headlight switch harness that could cause a fire to originate in the left dashboard area.
