Known issues on the 1996 Accord. Thirteen recalls are on federal record for this model year. Twelve of them cover aftermarket replacement headlamp and combination lamp assemblies from a range of suppliers — including K2 Motor, AAI Motorsports, E Speed Racing, Anzo, Dope Inc., Tradesonic, CK Motorsports, Pro-A Motors, Poli-Auto, AJ Motorsport, Eagle Eyes/Sonar, and J & A Auto Accessories — sold without the required amber side reflectors, which reduces lighting visibility to other drivers and can lead to a crash. The remaining recall covers the factory air conditioning wire harness, which was routed so that its wires rub against each other; the resulting short circuit can overheat the underhood wiring and start a fire in the engine compartment, or simply blow a fuse or drain the battery. Owners have filed 499 complaints for the year, and no technical service bulletins are logged for this model year. The factory diagnostic and repair procedures behind each of those systems are here.
Whether you're tracing a short in the AC harness or doing a routine service on the F22B1, it keeps you on Honda's OEM procedure and the correct specification for your specific 1996 Accord.
