Known issues on the 1993 4Runner. Two recalls are on federal record for this model year. One covers exterior lighting: SaberSport recalled 16,270 combination corner and bumper lamp assemblies of various part numbers sold for use as aftermarket equipment for various passenger vehicles, where decreased lighting visibility may result in a vehicle crash. The other covers the steering relay rod, part of the steering linkage: if the steering wheel is repeatedly turned under certain conditions where high steering effort and power assist are required, and the vehicle continues to be operated in that condition, the relay rod may fracture. Owners have submitted 58 complaints for the year, and 14 technical service bulletins are on record.
Whether the job is inspecting the steering linkage and relay rod, tracing a lighting fault, or working through scheduled service on either engine, the procedures and specifications are Toyota's own for the 1993 4Runner.
