Known issues on the 2018 Sienna. Six recalls are on federal record for this model year, and they fall into two groups: three filed by Toyota and its regional distributor, and three filed by companies that converted the van for mobility use. Two cover the fuel pump: if the fuel pump fails, the engine can stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash. One covers vehicles equipped with factory-installed floor mats, where an incorrect label may lead to unintentionally overloading the vehicle. Two more sit in the rear brake hydraulics of mobility conversions: on one, the brake lines may have incorrect tube nut fittings installed, and the reduction in the braking system pressure may cause a loss of braking power; on the other, the rubber brake hoses that attach to the rear wheel assembly are at issue, and the contact may cause failure of the rear brake hoses, resulting in a loss of vehicle control. The sixth covers a steering shaft extension on modified vans that may have been improperly manufactured; if the steering shaft extension completely fractures, it can cause a loss of steering. Owners have filed 84 complaints against the 2018 Sienna, and 150 technical service bulletins are on record for it.
