Known issues on the 2005 Sienna. Eight recalls are on federal record for this model year, and they land on very different parts of the van. One covers the automatic transmission, where the shift lever can be moved out of the Park position without the brake applied. A seat belt recall covers the middle-row shoulder belt, which may bind in the bezel trim piece and leave extra webbing in the belt. A structure recall covers a cable that may break due to excessive corrosion, after which the spare tire may separate from the vehicle. An engine and engine cooling recall covers the power steering pump belt, which may become detached from the pulley. A front seat heater recall covers the copper strand heating element, which may short circuit if damaged and increase the risk of a fire. The remaining three are labeling recalls: on one, the GVWR is insufficient for the load carrying capacity of the vehicles; on a second, issued by Southeast Toyota, a driver may overload the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash; on a third, issued by Gulf States Toyota, the vehicle does not meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 110, covering tire selection and rims.
