Known issues on the 2006 Sienna. Seven recalls are on federal record for this model year. Four of them are labeling recalls tied to load capacity: one because the GVWR is insufficient for the load carrying capacity of the vehicles; a second because incorrect load carrying capacity modification labels could result in the vehicle being overloaded; a third, from Southeast Toyota under Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 110, covering tire selection and rims, because a driver may overload a vehicle which may increase the risk of a crash; and a fourth, from Gulf States Toyota under that same standard, where the recorded consequence is that this does not meet the standard requirements. A structure recall covers a cable that may break due to excessive corrosion, after which the spare tire may separate from the vehicle. Two seat recalls close the list: Access Options recalled vans built on Sienna chassis and equipped with VMI/RICON six-way power seat bases, where the seat occupant may be injured if the seat base pin were to break, and Southeast Toyota Distributors recalled seat heaters where, if damaged, the copper strand heating element may short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire. Owners have submitted 1,284 complaints for the year, and 116 technical service bulletins have been issued.
