Known issues on the 2017 Forester. One recall is on the federal record for the 2017 Forester. It applies to certain 2017 Forester vehicles equipped with heated seats, where an electrical connection in the passenger seat's occupant detection system can come loose; if it does, the passenger air bag may turn off even with the seat occupied, and dealers inspect and replace the sensor mat harness as needed. Owners lodged 586 complaints, with air bags (164), the electrical system (106) and visibility/wiper (104) leading. Of these, 40 complaints reported a crash and 25 an injury.
