Known issues on the 2006 Forester. For the 2006 Forester, NHTSA recorded 2 recalls, and the first stems from a factory assembly fault: in certain 2006 Forester vehicles, the wiring harness for the passenger seat's occupant detection system may have been pinched between the floor crossmember and a seat bracket at the factory, which can cause a short that disables the passenger air bag or starts a fire. Certain 2006 Forester vehicles built within a set production period and sold or registered in certain road-salt states are also covered for front lower control arms that corrosion can break. Complaints number 88, with vehicle speed control (20) and suspension (12) at the top; 12 complaints reported a crash and 7 a fire. Air bag wiring diagrams apply.
