2015 Toyota Tacoma Service and Repair Manual

The 2015 Tacoma was sold with two naturally aspirated engines — the 2.7L four (2TR-FE) and the 4.0L DOHC V6 (1GR-FE) — across Base, PreRunner and TRD Pro trucks in Extra Cab and 4D Pickup bodies, with both automatic and manual transmissions on the trim list. Which one is sitting in front of you decides the numbers: the four-cylinder and the V6 do not share torque figures, fluid capacities or service intervals, and a TRD Pro is not built to the same specification as a Base pickup.

Known issues on the 2015 Tacoma. One recall stands on the federal record for this model year, NHTSA campaign 17V425000, filed against the hood hinge and attachments in the body structure. Southeast Toyota Distributors, LLC (SET) is recalling certain 2011-2016 Toyota Tacoma and 4Runner vehicles equipped with accessory hood scoops installed by SET or SET dealers. If the hood scoop detaches, it may become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash. Owners of this model year have also filed 137 complaints with NHTSA, and 163 technical service bulletins have been issued for the 2015 Tacoma.

That single campaign aside, the 137 complaints and 163 bulletins are the record worth reading against a symptom before parts get ordered for a 2.7L or 4.0L truck.
