The 2007 Toyota Tacoma was sold with two engines, the 2.7L four-cylinder (2TR-FE) and the 4.0L V6 (1GR-FE), in cab and drivetrain combinations running from the base 2D Pickup through the PreRunner to the X-Runner. Specifications diverge between the two engines and between cab configurations, so this manual is matched to the 2007 model year and to the engine in your truck rather than carried over from an adjacent year.

Known issues on the 2007 Tacoma. Seven recalls are on federal record for this model year. Three of them concern labeling: one covers vehicles that were not equipped with load carrying capacity modification labels, and incorrect load carrying capacity modification labels could result in the vehicle being overloaded; a second, from Southeast Toyota, covers vehicles that fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 110 for tire selection and rims, where a driver may overload a vehicle which may increase the risk of a crash; a third, from Gulf States Toyota, cites the same standard, with labeling that does not meet the standard requirements. A seat belt recall covers Tacoma Access Cab vehicles on which the seat belt pre-tensioner may detach from the seat belt assembly. A frontal air bag recall traces to steering wheel vibration that may, over time, damage the spiral cable, so that in the event of a crash the driver’s side air bag may not deploy. An accelerator pedal recall covers a pedal that can get stuck in the wide open position, and a stuck open accelerator pedal may result in very high vehicle speeds and make it difficult to stop. The seventh covers the front seat heater, whose copper strand heating element, if damaged, may short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire. Owners have filed 676 complaints against the 2007 Tacoma, and 125 technical service bulletins have been issued for it.
Whether the job is a spiral cable fault, an Access Cab seat belt pre-tensioner, or ordinary maintenance on the 2.7L four, the procedures and figures here are the ones Toyota published for the 2007 Tacoma.
