would rather have a maintenance manual. have a parts manual from parts vu company. only difference is that your parts manual has all together whereas the parts vu had to download the differsections individually.

Known issues on the 2004 Tacoma. Two recalls sit on federal record for this model year. The first concerns the front suspension lower control arm ball joint: a manufacturing issue may have left the surface of the ball scratched, and the joint may separate from the knuckle, causing loss of steering control. The second concerns the front seat belts, where the driver's side belt carries incorrect markings and the assembly therefore does not conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 209, Seat Belt Assemblies. Owners have registered 545 complaints against the 2004 Tacoma, and 75 technical service bulletins have been issued for it.

Checking front ball joint play, replacing a driver's side belt assembly or working through a routine service on the V6 all come back to the same thing: the figure Toyota specified for this truck, and the order Toyota specified it in.
