Known issues on the 2010 Tacoma. Nine recalls are on federal record against this model year. One covers the driveline: the propeller shaft may develop cracks during the manufacturing process, which may result in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. Another covers the accelerator pedal, which can get stuck in the wide open position; a stuck open accelerator pedal may result in very high vehicle speeds. A seat belt recall covers Access Cab trucks on which the seat belt pre-tensioner can detach from the seat belt assembly. A frontal air bag recall covers the front passenger seat occupant sensing system being out of calibration. The tire pressure monitoring system is recalled for failure to warn of tire deflations, a non-compliance with FMVSS 138 that could lead to tire failure. A front seat heater recall covers the copper strand heating element, which may short circuit if damaged, increasing the risk of a fire. The remaining three are label non-compliances. Two are failures to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 110, "Tire Selection and Rims": on one the label does not meet the standard requirements, and on the other a driver may overload a vehicle, which may increase the risk of a crash. On the third, an inaccurate label could lead to owners overloading their vehicles and tires. The year also carries 342 owner complaints and 143 technical service bulletins.

Whether the job is a propeller shaft inspection, a pre-tensioner replacement on an Access Cab, an occupant sensing system recalibration or a plain 2.7L service interval, the steps and the torque numbers come from Toyota's own service information for this truck rather than a generic pickup procedure.
