Known issues on the 2012 Pathfinder. Two recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers the engine and engine cooling system: bolts connecting the oil cooler and oil filter to the engine may have been manufactured below specification strength and can break at the filter attachment point, causing an oil leak that drops oil pressure and can seize the engine. The second covers the front wheel hubs on two-wheel-drive models built between June 19 and July 12, 2012, which may not meet design hardness specifications and can wear prematurely, crack, and break if driven in that condition. Consequence
IF THERE IS AN ENGINE OIL LEAK, THE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE WOULD DROP AND THE ENGINE COULD SEIZE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy
NISSAN WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE CONNECTOR BOLTS FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JANUARY 30, 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.
