Known issues on the 2006 Pathfinder. Five recalls are on federal record for this model year. The first covers the front and rear lower control link collars: an improper weld can separate under load, degrading vehicle handling and raising crash risk. The second covers the ECM relay inside the intelligent power distribution module, where silicon vapor from an internal diode can deposit on the relay contact and cause engine stalling. The third covers the fuel tank shell, which can deform so the sender float arm contacts the tank body and shows a false quarter-tank reading while the tank is actually empty, risking a stall in traffic. The fourth covers the front crash zone sensor, where road salt and moisture in cold-weather states can enter the housing and interfere with the driver and passenger front air bags deploying in a crash. The fifth covers an aftermarket Hopkins trailer brake control harness with a misrouted wire that sends power to the dash light circuit instead of the trailer brakes, reducing stopping ability while towing. Consequence
IF THE COLLAR WELD SEPARATES, THE VEHICLE HANDLING WILL DETERIORATE, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
Remedy
