Two of them cover the passenger-side frontal air bag inflator module, equipped with non-desiccated inflators: an inflator explosion may result in sharp metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants, resulting in serious injury or death. The third covers the ignition lock actuator, which may bind and let the key snap from "Start" back to "Accessory," causing a loss of engine, steering and braking power and increasing the risk of a crash; if the vehicle is in a crash, the air bags may not deploy, increasing the risk of occupant injury.
