Known issues on the 1999 Escalade. Five recalls are on federal record for this model year, most tied to aftermarket replacement parts rather than factory equipment. Certain replacement corner lamps, turn signals and headlights sold without amber side reflectors leave the vehicle poorly illuminated, risking a crash without warning. A batch of replacement fuel filters can seat their O-ring incorrectly at the connector, allowing a fuel leak that can ignite in the presence of an ignition source. Certain replacement oil filters made with a gasket that grows more pliable under heat and pressure can seal inadequately and leak engine oil, again with fire risk. Units fitted with a floor-mounted video entertainment center may not meet fuel spillage requirements in a crash, and the right front passenger restraint system on some units does not meet neck extension requirements in a crash.
