This factory service and repair manual for the 2006 GMC Yukon XL 2500 keeps to two trims, SLE and SLT, and two engines: a 6.0L V8 of 364 cubic inches and an 8.1L V8 of 496, both overhead-valve, naturally aspirated and running on gasoline, in a 4-door sport utility body. Because the two differ so widely in displacement, the engine mechanical clearances, cooling capacities and fuel delivery specifications are printed separately, while brake, steering, suspension and body electrical coverage runs across both.

Known issues on the 2006 Yukon XL 2500. Three recalls are on the federal record. The tire and loading label on some vehicles was printed with the wrong capacity weight, which could lead an owner to overload the truck or set tire pressure incorrectly. Replacement wheel hub assemblies could loosen at the inboard retention nut, showing up as noise and an antilock warning before the wheel itself is at risk. And a fuel rail pulse damper retainer clip could fracture, freeing the damper and allowing fuel to escape. Owner complaints number 83, led by the service brakes, the stability control system and the power train, all covered in detail here.

I KNOW THE INVESTIGATION IS CLOSED ON RUSTED BRAKE LINES BUT ID LIKE FOR IT TO BE REOPEN. I AM NOT SURE WHY THE NHTSA IS NOT FINDING GMC LIABLE FOR THIS NEGLIGENCE. BRAKE LINES RUST FROM TIME TO TIME.
