2001 GMC Yukon XL 2500 Service and Repair Manual
This factory service and repair manual for the 2001 GMC Yukon XL 2500 puts two gasoline V8s of very different size into one 4-door sport utility, sold in SLE and SLT trim: the 6.0L at 364 cubic inches and the 8.1L at 496. Both are naturally aspirated with overhead valves, but the larger engine's cooling, fuel delivery and exhaust hardware are its own, and the manual keeps those specifications, torque values and diagnostics separate rather than averaging the two into one set of numbers.

Known issues on the 2001 Yukon XL 2500. The federal record carries five recalls for this model year. One concerns second- and third-row outboard seat belt retractors with an internal part that could crack until the belt no longer locked in a crash. Another involves replacement wheel hub assemblies whose inboard retention nut could back off far enough for the wheel to separate. A third addresses rear wheelhouse plugs left loose or missing, which let exhaust gas travel forward into the passenger compartment. Owners recorded 396 complaints, 148 on the service brakes, 33 on the parking brake and 27 on tires, all met by the brake and wheel-end procedures here.
