This factory service and repair manual for the 2005 GMC Yukon XL 2500 covers the SLE and SLT versions of a 4-door sport utility that could be ordered with either of two naturally aspirated, overhead-valve gasoline V8s: the 6.0L at 364 cubic inches or the 8.1L at 496. The heavier engine brings its own cooling and fuel delivery specifications, and this book carries both sets, together with the transmission, driveline, brake, steering and suspension procedures the two engines share.

Known issues on the 2005 Yukon XL 2500. There are six recalls on the federal record for this model year. One concerns a brake pedal pushrod retainer that could be missing altogether, letting the booster pushrod separate from the pedal and the brakes go with it. Another involves a hydraulic brake booster accumulator that could crack and lose fluid in normal service. A third covers a fuel rail pulse damper retainer clip that could fracture and let fuel leak into the engine bay. The 238 owner complaints fall mainly on the electrical system, the service brakes and the power train, all diagnosed here with complete wiring diagrams and hydraulic specifications.
