Known issues on the 1999 Tahoe. Three recalls stand on the federal record for this year. One concerns the right front passenger restraint, which was found not to meet the neck extension limits set by the federal occupant protection standard in a crash. The other two involve replacement filters sold for these trucks: a fuel filter that can seal badly at its connection and leak, and an oil filter that can lose its seal and let the engine shed oil, either capable of feeding a fire. Brakes dominate the 576 complaints with 251, well clear of steering at 48 and the power train at 38.
