This factory service and repair manual for the 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe adds the Z71 to a six-trim list alongside LS, LT, LTZ, PPV and SSV, with one engine underneath them all: a 5.3-liter overhead-valve V8 of 325 cubic inches, naturally aspirated, running gasoline or flex fuel. The body remains a four-door sport utility. With the powertrain fixed, the manual's weight shifts toward the chassis, brake, steering and body electrical sections, where the equipment on a given truck actually varies.

Known issues on the 2016 Tahoe. Eight recalls are recorded here. Front upper control arms with inadequate welds at the bushing can separate and compromise steering. A transfer case fault can lock the front or rear wheels while the vehicle is under way. The vacuum pump can weaken over time until brake assist falls off and stops lengthen, and a failed wheel-speed sensor can have the driveline protection system brake one wheel and pull the truck aside. Two recalls concern a driver's belt pretensioner cable that can fatigue and break. Brakes take 74 of 257 complaints, the power train 44.
