1998 Chevrolet Tahoe Service and Repair Manual

This factory service and repair manual for the 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe is written around a truck sold three ways and powered two ways. Base, LS and LT trims were offered on both a two-door and a four-door sport utility, and under the hood sat either the naturally aspirated 5.7L gasoline V8 of 350 cubic inches or the turbocharged 6.5L diesel V8 of 395. Known issues on the 1998 Tahoe. Four recalls appear on the federal record. The most serious concerns a pinch bolt at the lower steering shaft that could be left finger-tight or missing, allowing the shaft to work free of the steering gear and the driver to lose steering. Another involves front brake rotor-and-hub assemblies cast in out-of-specification iron that can crack, with the cracks spreading toward the wheel bolt circle. Two more cover replacement filters that can seal poorly and leak fuel or oil. Brakes lead the 275 complaints at 74, ahead of visibility at 47 and steering at 31.
