1998 Chevrolet Express 1500 Service and Repair Manual

Three-door cargo and passenger bodies are covered in Base or LS trim. Known issues on the 1998 Express 1500. The federal record carries two recalls for this model year. One is serious at the wheel: front brake rotor and hub assemblies cast from out-of-specification gray iron can crack, and a crack left to spread around the wheel bolt circle can end with a wheel separating from the van. The other concerns replacement corner and bumper lamps missing their amber side reflectors, which dims how well the vehicle is seen at night. Of 23 owner complaints, tires lead with six, ahead of four on the service brakes and three on the structure.
