Known issues on the 1997 Tahoe. The federal record holds two recalls for this year, and both concern replacement service parts rather than factory hardware. One is a fuel filter that can seal poorly where it connects, letting fuel escape where an ignition source could find it. The other is an oil filter that can seal inadequately and let the engine lose its oil, again with fire as the stated risk.
