Known issues on the 1996 K2500. Two recalls apply, both to replacement filters sold for these trucks: a fuel filter that may not seal where it connects and can leak fuel, and an oil filter that can seal poorly and let the engine lose oil, both with fire as the consequence. Twenty-five owner complaints are logged with NHTSA, ten of them on the service brakes, five on visibility and three on structure. Brake procedures, torque values and diagnostics are the obvious first stop, with the wiring diagrams behind them.
