This factory service and repair manual for the 1992 GMC K2500 documents six engines, and two of them are unusual for a truck of this vintage: a turbocharged 6.5L diesel V8 and a 5.7L V8 set up to run on compressed natural gas or gasoline. The rest are naturally aspirated, namely the 4.3L V6, the 5.0L V8, the 7.4L V8 and the 6.2L diesel. Known issues on the 1992 K2500. Three recalls are on the federal record. Two concern replacement service parts: fuel filters that may not seal at the connection and allow a leak near an ignition source, and oil filters whose poor sealing can drain engine oil, either of which can end in a fire. The third is the automatic transmission, which can force fluid out of its vent tube when it runs unexpectedly hot. NHTSA holds one owner complaint for this year, entered under visibility. The manual's fuel and transmission procedures and its wiring diagrams speak to those areas.

Remedy

THIS CONDITION MAY CAUSE AN INADEQUATE SEAL AT THE CONNECTION, POTENTIALLY LEADING TO A FUEL LEAK. I
Remedy
HONEYWELL WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPLACE THE FUEL FILTERS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOB
UNANTICIPATED HEAT IN THE TRANSMISSION CAN FORCE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID OUT OF THE VENT TUBE.
Consequence
THE VENTED TRANSMISSION FLUID CAN CATCH FIRE IF EXPOSEDTO A SOURCE OF IGNITION.
Remedy
INSTALL A LONGER TRANSMISSION VENT HOSE ROUTED TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT OF THE VEH
