Known issues on the 1996 Tahoe. Five recalls stand against this model year. Two of them cover replacement service parts rather than original hardware: a fuel filter whose housing can seal badly at the connection and weep fuel near an ignition source, and an oil filter that can lose its seal and let the engine shed oil, either one capable of starting a fire. Two more concern cracked solder joints at the wiper controller, which can leave the blades sweeping intermittently.
