This factory service and repair manual for the 1996 Chevrolet C2500 has a shorter engine list than the years around it, four rather than six: the 5.0L and 7.4L gasoline V8s, the turbocharged 6.5L diesel and a 5.7L V8 able to run on compressed natural gas or gasoline. It sets out engine mechanical work and fuel-system diagnosis for four engines, including the compressed-natural-gas arrangement and the turbocharged diesel, then moves through the transmission, transfer case and axles, the hydraulic brake system, the steering and suspension with their alignment specifications, and the wiring diagrams for each cab body and trim level.
